§ 10-1. Canal protection.

(a)

This section shall be referred to as the "Santa Rosa County Canal Protection Ordinance."

(b)

The board of county commissioners may provide by resolution, development regulations for any subdivision, portion of subdivision or other specified area that is adjacent to any canal threatened by closure due to water quality deficiencies.

(c)

The resolution shall describe the area to be effected and the development regulations to be implemented.

(d)

The development regulations to be implemented shall address items that will protect or improve the water quality of the canal system. The development regulations will address those items that are required by the appropriate state or federal agency to avoid closure of the canal system.

(e)

Any person who violates the specified development regulations shall be punished as provided in section 1-6.
