§ 21-1. Load, weight limitations.

  • (a)

    It shall be the duty of the public works director to at least once annually survey the physical condition of all of the county roads and submit to the board of county commissioners a listing of all county roads which require the implementation of load or weight limitations upon them and a recommendation of the load or weight limitation to be imposed.

    (b)

    Upon submission of the listing required in subsection (a) of this section, the board of county commissioners shall approve or disapprove the load or weight limitations recommended and notify the public works director of its decision.

    (c)

    Upon receipt of the board's decision, the public works department shall cause signs to be placed upon all county roads which have had weight or load limitations placed upon them so as to notify the motoring public of such restrictions.

    (d)

    It shall be unlawful to operate any motor vehicle or other piece of equipment upon a county road which has a weight or load limitation if the motor vehicle or other piece of equipment has a weight in excess of such limitation.

    (e)

    Violation of this section shall be punishable as provided by law.
