§ 2-258. Civil rights.

  • (a)

    Assurance of equal opportunity in lending will be empowered by the following means:

    (1)

    Available buildings will be advertised through an outreach program that will include release of information through any special contracts made with existing minority businessmen in the area;

    (2)

    Information will be disseminated through any local minority oriented development groups; and

    (3)

    Local banks will be informed about the availability of the ABF program and its guidelines.

    (b)

    The IDA board will ensure that participants do not discriminate against employees or applicants for employment by including in each application a statement requiring compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations. The board of county commissioners will monitor the employment practices of approved participants annually. Periodic checks may be made to ensure that job opportunities are duly advertised and that an affirmative action plan is being followed. No applicant will be denied a loan on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, age, handicap, familial status, marital status or sex.
